Joshua: I’m glad Fury lost to Usyk, he’s a disrespectful idiot

AJ counts. that this behavior of the “Gypsy King” is harmful to the sport

Former world champion Anthony Joshua stated that he was happy about the Ukrainian’s victory Alexandra Usika over the former WBC belt holder Tyson Fury in the battle for the title of absolute heavyweight champion.

“I’m glad Fury is not the undisputed champion. I always said he’s an idiot, he’s very disrespectful… He has to step on people to make himself feel good. The way he didn’t respect Usik: sometimes he was a “rabbit”, sometimes he was a “middleweight”. This is not good for the sport.”

“If I respect you and you respect me, we can elevate this sport and make people think we are two of the most elite fighters in the world. But Fury will step on you and make you look like a guy who just left the pub. And then he got spanked, he deserves it.”

On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title. Usyk later vacated the IBF title, giving it to the winner of the Joshua-Dubois fight.

An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Usik and Fury will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
