After victory, Rodri projects confrontation against Germany: “We are not afraid”

The rout of Spain regarding the Georgia confirmed the team’s big clash against Germany in the quarter-finals of the European Championship. Even with the opponent playing at home, the Spanish midfielder, Rodriwas confident that his team could win, despite admitting the strength of the local fans.

“Germany at home is a strong team, but we are not afraid. If we want to pass the stage, we’re going to have to play a great game, with everything we have. Against Germany, it will be a very different match to the one against Georgia“, said the athlete who scored the team’s first goal in the victory.

Following the interview, after receiving the man of the match award, Rodri commented on what was discussed between the players when Georgia took the lead on the scoreboard. According to him, they were asked to be calm in seeking the result, considering the ‘restraint’ that would be presented by the opponent from then on.

“I asked the team to calm down (after Georgia’s goal), to come together more to regain control. We knew it was going to be tough, but apart from those moments of doubt, we managed to control the game. The first chance I had, I saw space and shot.“, added the midfielder of Manchester City.

One of the most anticipated clashes of the competition so far, Spain and Germany will face each other next Friday, the 5th, at 1 pm (Brasília time), in a match that will be worth a place in the semifinals of the competition. Both teams are looking for their third title, with the Spanish relying on their 100% record so far, while the Germans will have the strength of their fans.
