Atletico won’t pay Girona release clause for Dovbyk – media

The mattress makers will focus on other transfer targets and return to negotiations if the Catalan club agrees to reduce the Ukrainian’s price

Atletico reported Gironawhich will not pay the cost of the clause for the Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk.

The Catalans want to earn 40 million euros on the transfer – such a compensation is stipulated in the player’s contract. The mattress makers reported that they consider this amount to be too high. Atletico are ready to refuse the transfer of Dovbyk and will return to negotiations if Girona reduces their demands.

Earlier, the Mattress Makers made the first offer to the Catalan club for the Ukrainian, which amounts to 25 million euros plus various bonuses. The Madrid club has allegedly already agreed on a personal contract with Dovbyk.

It was reported that Milan is in direct contact with representatives of the Ukrainian national team player, and Dovbyk’s candidacy was personally approved by the Red-Blacks’ management consultant on selection policy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Dovbyk moved from Dnipro-1 to Girona in August last year and had a phenomenal season. Artem became the top scorer in Primera with 24 goals, also made 10 assists, and Girona sensationally finished in the top 3 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in history.
