The sons of Surkis, Shevchenko and Gusev can play in Euro U-19

The coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team announced the composition of the team for the upcoming European Football Championship.

The Ukrainian youth team is completing its final preparations for the upcoming European Championship. The U-19 continental championship will take place in mid-July in Northern Ireland.

The head coach of the Ukrainian team, Dmitry Mikhailenko, before the start of the training camp, which is scheduled to begin on July 4, announced a list of 23 players who will prepare for the upcoming tournament.

According to the official website of the UAF, among the players who can go to the continental championship are the children of famous people in Ukraine associated with football. These are the sons of the former and current president of UAF Grigory Surkis and Andrei Shevchenko, as well as the legendary football player and now coach Dynamo Oleg Gusev.

Composition of the Ukrainian youth team U-19:

Goalkeepers: Markian Backus (Rukh Lvov), Vyacheslav Surkis (Dynamo Kyiv), Vladislav Krapivtsov (Dnepr-1 Dnieper).

Defenders: Taras Mikhavko, Nazar Balaba, Alexey Gusev (all – Dynamo Kyiv), Nikolay Ogarkov, Anton Drozd (both Miner Donetsk), Maxim Melnichenko (Dnepr-1 Dnepr), Kirill Digtyar (Metalhead Kharkiv).

Midfielders: Viktor Tsukanov (Miner Donetsk), Daniil Vashchenko (Alexandria), Andrey Matkevich (Dynamo Kyiv), Samuel Obinaya (Metalist in 1925 Kharkov), Ramik Gadzhiev (Dnepr-1 Dnepr), Gennady Sinchuk (Metalhead Kharkov), Alexander Fetko (Carpathians Lvov), Daniil Krevsun (Borussia DortmundGermany), Maxim Derkach (RFS, Latvia), Timur Tuterov (SunderlandEngland), Christian Shevchenko (WatfordEngland).

Forward: Matvey Ponomarenko (Dynamo), Dmitry Bogdanov (Dynamo DresdenGermany).

Note that the European U-19 Championship will last from July 15 to July 28. From two groups of four teams, the two best teams will advance to the semi-finals.

In the Euro 2024 U-19 group stage, Ukraine will play against tournament hosts Northern Ireland (July 15), Norway (July 18) and Italy (July 21).
