Boris Ignatiev: ‘Abramovich can replace Fedun at Spartak’

Former head coach of the Russian national team Boris Ignatiev expressed the opinion that the owner of the Moscow “Spartacus” Leonid Fedun could replace Roman Abramovich .

Earlier, the media announced the imminent departure of Fedun from the post of president of the Moscow club, in whose place should be replaced Ashot Khachaturyants .

– I think that Fedun can be replaced by an even more significant person in terms of football, organization of the economy, financial opportunities. Hypothetically – Abramovich.

But I won’t speak for him if he is interested in Spartak or not. If he says so, we’ll appreciate it. I know Roman Arkadievich, he took us to Chelsea, gave us the opportunity to study, invited a large group of people and thought about the evolution of our football.

Today in our country there are only two people who really develop football – Galitsky and Fedun. Leonid Arnoldovich, despite some shortcomings and asperities, has built so much, has done so much for the development of youth football.

I know this area well, how Spartak Academy works, in what conditions it is. We have a lot of people who are involved in football, but I haven’t seen those who are willing to spend so much money on its development. Therefore, I regret that he may soon leave Spartak, but I myself don’t really believe in it,” Ignatiev told Gazeta.Ru.

Fedun acquired a majority stake in FC Spartak in 2004.
