World No.8 Ruud Loses to Fognini in Wimbledon 2024 Second Round

Another top 10 representative leaves the tournament

World No.8 Casper Ruud from Norway suffered a defeat in the second round Wimbledon 2024.

Ruud lost to the Italian in the 1/32 finals Fabio Fognini. The tennis players spent almost 3 and a half hours on the court.

Fognini was stronger in the first and second sets, making one break each – 6:4, 7:5. In the third set, the Italian was leading 5:2, but allowed Ruud to fight back. In the tie-break, Casper left Fabio no chance – 7:1.

In the fourth set, Fognini made a break in the eighth game and won the final game 6:3.

In the third round, Fognini will play the winner of the match between Lorenzo Sonego (Italy) and Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain).

Earlier, sixth seed Andrey Rublev left the main draw of Wimbledon 2024, losing to world No. 122 Francisco Comesaña in the first round.
