For the first time in history, five Ukrainian women made it to the second round of the Grand Slam tournament

The co-authors of the achievement were Yastremska, Kostyuk, Starodubtseva, Snigur and Svitolina

Successful performances in singles Wimbledon 2024 Ukrainian tennis players set a new record. For the first time in history, five sportswomen from our country will play in the second round of the Grand Slam tournament.

The achievement was shared by five people: Dayana Yastremska, Marta Kostyuk, Yulia Starodubtseva, Daria Snigur and Elina Svitolina.

It should be noted that eight Ukrainians started in the main draw at once – and this is also a national record at the level of this major – but Lesya Tsurenko, Kateryna Baindl and Angelina Kalinina finished their performances at the very first stage.

Until now, only four Ukrainian women have reached the second round of Grand Slam tournaments four times: twice at the Australian Open (2018, 2024), once at the US Open (2020) and once at Wimbledon (2023).
