Stefanos lost to Emil Ruusuvuori in a 3-hour fight
Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece failed to reach the 1/16 finals Wimbledon 2024.
In the second round of the grass major, Tsitsipas, the 11th racket of the world, was defeated by a representative of Finland Emilia Ruusuvuori (No. 87 in the ATP rankings). The tennis players spent almost 3 hours on the court.
The first two sets ended in tie-breaks. The Finnish tennis player was twice stronger than Stefanos – 8:6 and 12:10.
The third set was won by Tsitsipas (6:3), but the Greek failed to build on his success. Ruusuvuori won the fourth set (6:3) and advanced to the next round of Wimbledon.
In the 1/16 finals, Emil will play against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Tsitsipas’ best results in the Wimbledon singles draw remain the fourth round in 2018 and 2023.
