The Ukrainian will defend his title on August 10
Tom Leffler, promoter of the interim WBC light middleweight champion Sergei Bogachukcommented on the upcoming fight with the holder of the WBO International welterweight belt Virgil Ortiz.
“Sergey has been through a lot. He survived the invasion of his country while waiting for a visa to the United States. He received special permission to leave as a professional athlete to continue his boxing career.”
“Bogachuk won the interim WBC world title and is now looking forward to defending it, fighting for Ukraine in the ring. Vergil Ortiz is a very dangerous opponent, but nothing will stop Serhiy from winning.”
The fight between Bogachuk and Ortiz will take place on August 10. The event will take place in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra arena in the famous Mandalay Bay casino. The interim WBC title, which Bogachuk holds, will be at stake.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian confidently defeated the American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place in late March in Las Vegas. Following 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.
Vergil Ortiz defeated Tomas Dulorme from Puerto Rico in his last fight. The American has won all his fights ahead of schedule.
