Dnepr-1 still hopes to save the team
Commercial Director Dnepr-1 Vyacheslav Fridman commented on the situation inside the club. Dnipro-1 continues to fight for its life, but does not guarantee that it will be able to perform in the upcoming UPL season due to financial problems.
“So what should we do? Help Minaj? We need to think for ourselves or how can we help Minaj? Let the UPL determine the club that will prepare to play instead of us. Now we will withdraw, another team will prepare instead of us, and in 10 days we will have a sponsor. Why?”
“We don’t want to hurt anyone, but we have some chances. The whole country knows that we need an investor. We talked to a few, they are thinking. We have very small debts to old players, maybe there will be some to new ones. We are trying, we are slowly closing them.”
“Metalist 1925 is now trying to get into the Premier League on a large budget. But it is possible to get into it for a few million dollars – move the team from Dnipro to another city where it is now comfortable to play. Because it is now uncomfortable to play or live in Dnipro. And maybe even second, and then the fate of the club could have been different. Why should we refuse, and then say: “Oh, we rushed.”

As Sport Arena has learned, Dnipro-1 was unable to start the planned training camp. It is reported that the club was able to gather too few players. There are not enough players to complete the starting lineup.
In June, Fridman said that the club was at risk of closing the project. The functionary said that the current funds would not be enough for the entire season. However, according to him, Dnipro-1 is negotiating with potential new sponsors in order to continue its existence.
Honorary President Yuri Bereza said that he is ready to transfer all rights to the club to new investors. The functionary agrees to leave his post if the new owners save the team.
Dnipro-1, if it survives, will play in the Conference League qualification. In the second round of the selection, the opponent of Yuriy Maksimov’s team will be the Hungarian Puskas Academy.
