Less than a week after presenting a new CEO, Corinthians is involved in controversy behind the scenes and the director may leave the club
Although it has already been announced and even given a press conference to journalists, the CEO of Corinthians, Fred Lightmay not stay at the club for long. His hiring was made official before the signing of the contract, which has led to several internal disagreements, and may end up in the director’s departure.
The main point is his partnership with ‘Alvarez & Marsal’, since Fred’s initial idea was to place his arrival in relation to the company, as if he were a representative consultant. Timão, on the other hand, does not want this scenario, being advised to refuse by Ernest Young itself, the company hired for the club’s compliance.
“The club listened to the advice of CEO Fred Luz and financial director Pedro Silveira to be cautious in the market. The order is not to do anything crazy.”

The situation also did not have a good impact on the club, with an argument even arising between Fred and the president of the Deliberative Council, Romeu Tuma Jr. Behind the scenes, the manner in which this hiring was carried out is seen as a conflict of interest, and raises concerns about not being able to hold the director responsible for possible misconduct.
At the press conference held last Wednesday, the 3rd, Fred was asked about the topic, stating that he remains a partner in the company in question, but guaranteeing that he is 100% focused on Timão’s demands. He also stated that if it were a case of conflict of interest, he would not have gone ahead with the talks with the club.
The situation is currently uncertain, but people behind the scenes say there is a possibility that the director will leave the club. President Augusto Melo’s decision becomes difficult, having to accept yet another ‘mistake’ by his management, or buy internally to keep Fred, regardless of the contractual situation.
