At world level, Italy still holds the record for the longest unbeaten run
Colombia National Team set a new national record for the most consecutive games without a loss – 28. Los Cafeteros’ previous record unbeaten streak was from 1992 to 1994.
The achievement was made possible by the victory of Nestor Lorenzo’s team over Uruguay in the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America (1:0). Let us recall that Colombia deservedly took the lead at the end of the first half, soon found itself in the minority, but managed to protect the minimal advantage.
At the international level, Italy continues to hold the record – 37 matches without defeat between 2018 and 2021. Argentina came close to breaking it at the end of 2022, but sensationally lost to Saudi Arabia in the first round of the World Cup and stopped at 36 matches. Which did not prevent the Albiceleste from eventually winning the World Cup.
Argentine Lorenzo led the Colombian team to only the third Copa America final in its history. Los Cafeteros lost in 1975, their only victory dates back to 2001. For comparison: Uruguay and Argentina are 15-time continental champions.
The final match Argentina – Colombia will take place on the night of June 15 in Miami. The start is at 03:00 Kyiv time. The day before that, Canada and Uruguay will play for the bronze medals.
