Around 80,000 inhabitants of Chiavari left the city and the valleys for the South American country in search of fortune, 30,000 of them returned in the following years, contributing to the contamination of the culture and customs of Chiavari. The narrator of the documentary is Giorgio Ghetto Viarengo, an expert on the history of the region.
