Flamengo renews with a bang and sets a fine of R$1 billion

Last week, Bournemouth presented a proposal of 12 million euros (R$ 71.2 million) to sign Wesley, but Flamengo rejected the initial offer.

The right-back Wesleytarget of interest of the Bournemouthfrom the Englandrenewed his contract with the Flamengo this Thursday (11). The 20-year-old’s new contract, which was previously valid until December 2025, was extended until the end of 2028. With the renewal, the player’s termination fee rose to 200 million euros (R$ 1.1 billion at the current exchange rate).

Last week, Bournemouth presented a €12 million (R$71.2 million) offer to sign Wesley, but Flamengo rejected the initial offer. Despite this, the English club still maintains interest and negotiations continue.

Wesley had already attracted the interest of other clubs in the Premier League. In 2023, the Barcelona made a loan proposal with an option to buy, but the then coach Victor Pereira chose to keep the player in the squad.

Wesley’s renewal divided Flamengo fans on social media. Many fans expressed their discontent and asked the board to negotiate the player’s sale.

“May it be sold as soon as possible!”commented a fan. “The sale must be ready to go,” suggested another. “Renewed to increase the fine and sell more expensive”speculated a third.
