Athletistic / Football. Zenit’s deputy general director for sports development Andrei Arshavin has spoken about the possible departure of striker Mateo Cassierra from the club.
“As for Cassierra, I can say that there is no replacement for him in the current Zenit squad. The club will only be able to consider the possibility of selling Mateo if a specific replacement is found,” Match TV quotes Arshavin as saying.
Zenit fans voted to recognize Mateo Cassierra as the club’s best football player for the 2023/2024 season. Last campaign, the 27-year-old Colombian striker made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing seven assists. Cassierra with 21 goals became the top scorer in the latest RPL draw. It is worth noting that in February 2024, Zenit extended his contract until the end of the 2026/2027 season.
