Veresa president interested in more matches per season
The president Veresa Ivan Nadein commented on the possible removal Dnepra-1 from the drawing Ukrainian Premier LeagueThe official proposes to admit three more clubs to the elite division, expanding the number of participants to 18 teams.
“In the football community, information actually spreads very quickly. And rumors about possible problems with Dnipro-1 appeared a long time ago. If there is a problem with the payment of wages, how can the club be issued a Certificate? And the Certificate was issued to a club participating in the European Cup. Because of the certification committee, Ukraine may lose a representative in the European arena. This is the root of this story, in my opinion.”
“How to proceed from the situation – pay attention to the reform of certification bodies. For starters – involve UPL in this process. If the problem is in certification – Dnepr-1 should replace Minai.”
“But I would suggest a third option. We have very few matches in the season. 32 official games together with cup games. Two additional matches in the fall and spring will not radically affect the calendar. So we will increase the number of teams to 18, the number of matches in the championship will grow to 34 and we will allow Minaj, Metalist 1925, and the third team of the First League Left Bank, which has excellent infrastructure, to participate in the championship. A league that expands during a war is a league of courage.”
Earlier, Sport Arena reported that Dnipro-1 was unable to start the planned training camp. The club was able to gather too few players. There are not enough players to complete the starting lineup.
Let us recall that in June, Dnipro commercial director Vyacheslav Fridman said that the club was in danger of closing the project. The functionary said that the current funds would not be enough for the entire season. However, according to him, Dnipro-1 is negotiating with potential new sponsors in order to continue its existence.
Veres will open the new UPL season with a match against Karpaty. The home match of the first round for Rivne will take place on August 3.
