PSG beat Man Utd bid for midfielder Joao Neves

Benfica refused both requests

PSG joined the fight for the midfielder Benfica Joao Neves.

The first contender for the player was Manchester Unitedwho offered 60 million euros. The Parisians outbid the amount, declaring their readiness to pay 10 million more.

At the same time, Benfica, represented by the club’s president Rui Costa, rejected both requests. The Eagles’ camp believes that they are ready to consider selling the midfielder for at least 120 million, and negotiations will start from 100 million euros.

Neves, 19, played 55 matches for Benfica in all competitions last season. The defensive midfielder scored three goals and made two assists. In October 2023, Jose made his debut for the Portugal national team, where he has already played 9 games and became a participant in Euro 2024.

Benfica finished second in the Portuguese championship. Ukrainian Anatoliy Trubin spent his debut season in the Orly starting lineup – 48 matches (17 “clean”), 47 goals conceded.

Manchester United finished eighth in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season, but qualified for the Europa League thanks to winning the FA Cup. Erik ten Hag’s side host Fulham in the first round of the new English championship on August 16.

PSG won the French championship without any problems last season, added a victory in the French Cup, and also stopped one step short of the Champions League final.
