Maldera announces employment in Marseille

He reunited with Roberto De Zerbi

Italian specialist Andrea Malderaex-assistant Andrey Shevchenko in the Ukrainian national team, announced his employment in Marseille.

“Ready for a new and exciting adventure,” Malder captioned a post on social media, along with the Olympic logo.

In 2016-21, Maldera worked with the Ukrainian national team in the coaching staff of Andriy Shevchenko. Until 2015, the Italian held positions in the Milan structure.

In September 2022, Andrea became an assistant to the former Shakhtar coach, Roberto De Zerbi, in the coaching staff of the English Brighton. In May of the same year, Maldera stated that he was not against returning to Ukraine. Andrea worked in this position until the end of the last season, after which he left the English club along with De Zerbi’s entire staff.

De Zerbi took over Marseille this summer. Thus, Maldera will reunite with Roberto in the management of one team. In early July, it was reported that Andrea received an offer to rejoin the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team.

In the last edition of the French championship, Marseille finished only in 8th place, without qualifying for the European Cups. The famous former Italian forward, former coach of Kyiv Arsenal Fabrizio Ravanelli, has been appointed as the club’s sports director.

In the first round of the new 2024/25 Ligue 1 season, Olympique will play against Brest.
