Former France national team coach has been out of work since September 2023
Saudi Arabian Al-Ittihad announced the appointment Laurent Blanc for the post of head coach.
The contract with the French specialist was signed for two seasons with an option to extend it for another one.
The last club in Blanc’s career was Lyon, which he headed for just under a year – from October 2022 to September 2023. Laurent Blanc’s coaching career also included Bordeaux, PSG, the French national team and Qatar’s Al-Rayyan.
Al-Ittihad finished 5th in the Saudi Arabian Championship last season, missing out on a spot in the Asian Champions League. Al-Ittihad have been actively pursuing a transfer campaign this off-season, with the club said to be interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.
