The former goalkeeper Tobias He died in a case that has not been disclosed to date, a few decades after having played for Alvinegro. He played more than 100 games for the team, including the 1977 Paulistão title on his resume.

The 1970s were a very important decade for Corinthians, mainly due to two historic moments. First was the Corinthians Invasion, when Timão took more than 60 thousand fans to Rio de Janeiro to watch the semi-final of the 1976 Brazilian Championship. Tobias was the team’s goalkeeper and saved two penalties in the qualifying match against Fluminense.

A year later, the aforementioned Campeonato Paulista title also put the player in history, ending a 23-year drought without titles. In a statement, Corinthians expressed solidarity with the loss of the family of the former goalkeeper, who was 75 years old: “The conquest of the title that ended the 23-year drought, the 1977 Paulistão, with the victory over Ponte Preta by 1-0.
