Olympic Team Coach Notes Good Atmosphere in Team
Head coach of the Olympic team Ukraine Ruslan Rotan spoke about the process of preparing his team for Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.
“The players were in different physical condition because some had more rest, some less, some started working earlier, some later. The functional condition was uneven. The coaching staff’s task now is to correct it, to give someone more workload, to someone less. We want to use the time during the training camp productively to bring the functional condition of the players to a common denominator.”
“The second important point is to establish understanding between the players and tactical connections – so that we think alike. Among our youth, there are enough experienced players who have been with us from the first days – Max Taloverov, Daniil Sikan, Dima Kriskiv, Arseniy Batagov. Some of them will be captains. But the main thing is that the veterans of our young team are truly leaders, lead the guys, and the guys listen to them.”
“I am very happy that we have a good atmosphere. All the guys are friendly, they work well during training and listen attentively during the theory sessions. Knock on wood, in this regard, everything is fine with us.”
Ukraine will take part in the Olympic football tournament for the first time in its history. Rotan’s team won a ticket to Paris last year, reaching the semi-finals of the European Youth Championship.
On July 14, Ruslan Rotan’s team will play a friendly match with the Egyptian Olympic team, and on July 18, they will meet Paraguay. Both sparring matches will begin at 19:30 Kyiv time.
The coach of the Ukrainian Olympic team previously said that he does not see much desire on the part of most clubs to help his team and release their players to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games.
The final roster of the Ukrainian team included defenders Maksym Taloverov, Arseniy Batagov, midfielder Maksym Khlan, as well as the leaders of Shakhtar Donetsk – Dmytro Kryskiv and Danylo Sikan.
The Ukrainian national team will play at the 2024 Olympics with Argentina, Morocco and Iraq. In the first round, Rotan’s team will meet the Asian team on July 24.
