Ukrainian and Pole on Spurs’ shortlist for attacking midfielder

Tottenham are eyeing two attacking midfielders from Eastern Europe as potential replacements for the Argentine Giovanni Lo Celsowhich can be put up for transfer.

Spurs have a Ukrainian in their sights Georgy Sudakov from Minerwhich they have been interested in since at least the spring, as well as the Pole Sebastian Szymanski from Fenerbahcefor whom the London club could pay 25-30 million euros.

It has been reported many times before that Shakhtar may part ways with Sudakov after Euro 2024. Georgiy himself stated that his dream is the English Premier League.

In February, we recall, the Donetsk club officially extended the contract with Sudakov. The new contract is valid until December 31, 2028. The footballer’s release clause specified in the contract is 150 million euros.

In March, Georgiy said that Shakhtar had received offers from Juventus and Napoli in the winter. It was also reported that the midfielder’s entourage was negotiating with Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern. In April-May, Chelsea and Tottenham held talks with Sudakov’s representatives.

The 21-year-old midfielder played 34 matches for Shakhtar in all tournaments of the 2023/24 season, scored 10 goals and made six assists. At Euro 2024, Georgiy played in all three matches, without scoring.

25-year-old Szymanski played 55 matches for Fenerbahce in all competitions last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 19 assists. At the European Championship in Germany, Sebastian played two partial matches.

Shakhtar became the champion of Ukraine. Fenerbahce took second place in the Turkish Super League. At the beginning of the summer, the legendary Jose Mourinho officially became the new coach of the Turkish giant. Tottenham finished in fifth place in the Premier League, losing the fight for the Champions League zone to Aston Villa.
