Ukrainian goalkeeper Benfica Anatoly Trubin returned to the Lisbon club ahead of schedule.
As a participant in the European Championship, Anatoliy was entitled to an additional four-day vacation. However, the Ukrainian decided to give it up in order to resume training with the team as soon as possible. He has already arrived at Benfica’s training base in Seixal.
At Euro 2024, Trubin played two full matches. In both encounters, with Slovakia (2:1) and Belgium (0:0), Anatoliy was recognized as the Lion of the Match. In the second case, he became a co-author of a historic achievement: with him in goal, Ukraine for the first time, from the 14th attempt, did not concede in European Championship matches.
It later became known that Benfica did not allow Trubin to join the Ukrainian Olympic team to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Roger Schmidt’s team became vice-champion of Portugal. The new season for the Eagles will officially begin on August 11 with an away match of the championship against Famalicao.
