Spain beat England to win Euro 2024 with last-minute goal; Oyarzabal was unlikely hero
A Spain beat England this Sunday, 14, and became four-time champion of the European Championship in 2024. The goals of the game were scored by Nico Williams, Cole Palmer tied, but Mikel Oyarzabal appeared in the 86th minute to put the ‘Fury‘ in front and guarantee another achievement for his country.
The first half of the grand final of the European Championship between Spain and England was very tense on both sides, and there were no goals scored. There were no great plays of work for either Pickford as for Unai Simon. The game design was mainly with Spain playing the ball in the attacking half, and England trying quick exits, with Saka being the most used, on the right side of his attack.

In the second half, it took just a few minutes for everything to change, as Lamine Yamal received the ball on the right side of his attack and drove it into the middle, finding Williams on the other side of the area, who arrived and struck first time, leaving Pickford with no chance, opening the scoring in the final.
Maintaining their superiority, Spain gradually calmed down the game, but the English coach, Gareth Southgate, did not like this and sent Cole Palmer onto the field. Just three minutes after the substitution, Bukayo Saka came on the right, who found space to pass to the middle, where he found Jude Bellingham. The English number 10 passed it back, where Palmer arrived, who calibrated his left foot and sent it into the corner of Unai Simón, making the match all square.
When everything seemed to be heading towards a draw, and subsequent extra time, Mikel Oyarzabal exchanged passes with Cucurella and appeared in the area to receive a deep cross and send it into the net. The goal confirmed Spain’s fourth European Championship title, having also won in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
