Veres-Izotop-2 will not play in the Second League 2024/25

The reason is the lack of proper safety standards.

Veres-Isotope-2 refused to perform in Second League 2024/25. The club has already submitted an official application to the PFL.

The official version is the lack of proper safety standards. The team was to be based in the city of Varash, on whose territory a strategic facility is located – the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant.

“The sports infrastructure that was planned to be used by the Veres-Isotope-2 team is partly located on the territory of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, which requires additional measures for nuclear safety and radiation protection. This, in turn, makes it impossible to fulfill some of the mandatory conditions of the Regulations of the All-Ukrainian Football Competitions among the teams of the Professional Football League clubs.”

“Veres continues to work together to create a second team through the joint efforts of the club, the community and local businesses. Veres hopes that the second team will appear on the Ukrainian football arena as early as the next football season,” the club’s statement reads.

Thus, now 22 clubs will play in the Second League of the next season, which will also be divided into two subgroups. Among them are the reserves of Polesie, Rukh, Vorskla and Alexandria.

PFL President Oleksandr Kadenko reported that during the UAF Executive Committee, a decision was made to postpone the start of the First and Second League competitions to August 3 and 4, respectively. It is also planned to shift the date of the first preliminary stage of the 2024/25 Ukrainian Cup.
