Mikautadze refused to move to Monaco, Lyon claims the footballer – media

Georgian national team and Metz forward George Mikautadze rejected the offer to move to “Monaco ” and can continue his career in Lyon, reports L’Equipe.

According to the publication, Monaco and Metz have agreed on the transfer of the 23-year-old footballer for 25 million euros, but the Georgian rejected the Monaco offer. It is worth noting that Mikautadze secretly agreed on a five-year contract with Lyon, so he did not travel to Monaco on July 13 to finalize the transfer.

Lyon will now negotiate with Metz, who bought Mikautadze’s transfer from Ajax Amsterdam this summer for 13 million euros.

Mikautadze is a Lyon native and Olympic graduate. In the 2023/24 season, he made 31 appearances for Metz and Ajax, scoring 14 goals. At the European Championship, Mikautadze scored three goals and became one of six players to share the tournament’s top scorer title in Germany.
