Eddie expects a battle of strong punchers
Promoter Eddie Hearn commented on the upcoming fight between the former world champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KO) and the IBF heavyweight belt holder Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KO).
“Both guys are going to be swinging their arms, and both are very dangerous. Some people are saying we’re going to have a shootout, but I have no doubt that AJ is the better marksman. He’s too accurate, too good.”
“If you’re going to take punches from Anthony Joshua, you’re in big trouble. AJ is not going to stand in front of Dubois and just throw punches like Filip Hrgovic did.”
“Either way, it’s going to be two punchers who are in great shape and confident. Daniel has shown how dangerous he is in his last two fights. I don’t think it’s the best time to fight Dubois, just like it’s not the best time to fight Joshua. For me, the key is that it’s going to be two powerful punchers who are in their prime.”
The fight will take place on September 21. The arena for the event will be London’s Wembley Stadium. There, Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title, which he received after Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk renounced the belt.
The fight will be the headliner of a big night of boxing. The undercard will feature fights such as Tyler Denny vs. Hamza Shiraz, Anthony Kasame vs. Josh Warrington, Liam Smith vs. Josh Kelly, Joshua Buatsi vs. Willie Hutchinson and Mark Chamberlain vs. Josh Pudley.
Dubois finished the fight with Filip Hrgovic in the eighth round. The fight took place as part of the “5 on 5” event in Riyadh. The British heavyweight won the title of “interim” IBF champion in the fight with the Croatian.
Joshua won his last fight against former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou. After the fight, Eddie Hearn called Anthony the number 1 heavyweight boxer in the world. Joshua himself spoke about his desire to hold his next fight in June, but he was offered to postpone the fight until September.
