After the death of the Barcelona-EQU goalkeeper, the game against Bragantino could be postponed

This Tuesday, the Barcelona from Guayaquil announced the sad news of the death of Justin Cornejoone of their young goalkeepers, just 20 years old. The Ecuadorian club announced the athlete’s death on their social media, which could result in the postponement of the match against Red Bull Bragantinoscheduled for this Wednesday, 17th, by South American Cup.

“No words or phrases can ease the pain we feel right now. The memory he leaves us will be what gives us the strength we need to get out of this situation. Justin, you will always be in our hearts 💛💛💛. Rest in peace, friend 🧤. We love you.”

Earlier, when the goalkeeper was still hospitalized in critical condition, the club had published a statement informing the suspension of all sporting activities:

“In view of this difficult situation, we have decided to suspend the club’s sporting activities until further notice.”

Due to this tragedy, the game against Red Bull Bragantino, scheduled for 9:30 pm this Wednesday, 17th, at Ecuadormay be postponed.

Out of respect for Justin Cornejo’s family, Barcelona de Guayaquil has said that it will not release any further details about the case. However, the Ecuadorian press reports that the young goalkeeper was found unconscious with a serious head injury in the bathroom of his home, suggesting that he may have slipped and hit his head while taking a shower. There is no official confirmation yet.

Justin Cornejo was a promising 20-year-old goalkeeper, trained in the youth ranks of Barcelona de Guayaquil and a member of the club’s professional squad, one of the biggest in Ecuador.
