“We are very happy with Puma continuing to be Palmeiras’ sports equipment partner,” said president Leila Pereira
O Palm trees announced this Tuesday (16) the renewal of the contract with Pumaextending the partnership until the end of 2028. Although the exact figures have not been disclosed, a significant increase in the fixed part of the contract was confirmed, compared to the previous agreement.
Before the renewal, Palmeiras earned around R$40 million per year from the supply of sports equipment from Puma. The new contract promises to substantially exceed this amount, also depending on product sales.
The partnership between Palmeiras and Puma began in the 2019 season. With the new partnership, Puma will continue to produce sports equipment for the men’s and women’s teams, both professional and youth, for at least ten years.
“We are very happy with Puma continuing to be Palmeiras’ sports equipment partner. This is a company that has demonstrated great commitment and respect for our club,” said the president Leila Pereira to the official Palmeiras website.
Before the renewal, Palmeiras opened a competition and received seven offers from companies interested in sponsoring the club. AdidasVerdão’s former partner, was the main competitor, but Puma was chosen due to the increase in the contract and the commitment to creating exclusive clothing lines, including a special one for the Club World Cup.
Within Palmeiras, there is a perception that Puma has been increasingly involved in club campaigns, such as the “For a Greener Future” project. In addition, the board sees a growing presence of the club’s uniforms in stores abroad.
Changes in the new contract
With the new contract, Palmeiras will no longer be Puma’s exclusive partner in Brazilbut there will be restrictions on agreements with other teams, the details of which were not revealed. The loss of exclusivity contributed to the increase in the value of the contract.
“The partnership with Puma has been extremely successful, both on and off the field, and we will continue working together to strengthen the relationship between our brands and the Palmeiras Family”declared Leila Pereira.
Charlie Gagliardipresident of Puma in Brazil, added: “Together with Palmeiras, our priority will be to continue to give voice to the feelings of the Alviverde fans, translating this passion for the club into products and campaigns that engage and promote the sport.”
Since the beginning of the partnership with Puma in 2019, Palmeiras has won 11 titles: Paulistan (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024), Brazilian Championship (2022, 2023), Brazil’s Cup (2020), Libertadores (2020, 2021), South American Recopa (2022) and Super Cup (2023).
