Gabigol has his trial cancelled and is suspended again; understand

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has decided to annul the case against Gabigol, who was playing under a suspension order and has now been suspended from football again.

This Tuesday, the 16th, the Court of Arbitration for Sportthe CAS, annulled the process of Gabigolwho had been suspended for delaying an anti-doping test, but was given a suspensive effect and was once again available to Tite. The case involved a failure to notify the Federal Government and, as a result, will have to be restarted. Flamengo’s number 99 will once again be suspended from football until April 2025.

On March 25, Gabigol was sentenced to a two-year suspension from football for attempted fraud in a doping test, in a trial at the Anti-Doping Sports Justice Court. However, as provided for in the anti-doping regulations, the sentence began to apply in April 2023, when the test was carried out.

Therefore, the player returned to this suspended situation and, as long as no measures are taken, he will not be able to play until April 2025. However, just over a month after this first sentence, Gabigol had a suspended effect granted and has been free to return to the pitch since then.

The player will have to go through a trial in person in Switzerland, which was postponed in June at the request of the Federal Government. Now, in order to continue the process, the CAS has decided to annul the process as a whole, consequently removing the suspensive effect. The attacker’s defense will have to file a new request and a new trial will likely take place.
