Evgeniy will be involved in the eSports sphere and an agency company
Former winger of Dnipro, Shakhtar and the Ukrainian national team Evgeniy Konoplyanka officially announced his retirement.
“Football is more than just a game for me, more than just a sport or a competition. It is a big part of me as a person, as an individual and as a professional. I love this game very much and I appreciate every moment I have experienced while on the football pitch.”
“But today I must tell you that I have decided to end my professional career. So I thank everyone who has walked this path with me, everyone who shared with me the joy of victories and the sadness of defeats, everyone who followed me and supported me on and off the field.”
Konoplyanka also said that he would work in two directions. Evgeny became the creator of the eSports organization kONO.ECF, and also opened a scouting agency together with Roman Zozulya.
Since January, Yevhen has been without a club. The Ukrainian left Romanian Cluj, for which he played in four matches last season, spending less than an hour on the field in total.
During his career, Yevhen also played for Dnipro, Sevilla, Schalke, Shakhtar and Cracovia. Konoplyanka played 87 games for the Ukrainian national team, scoring 21 goals. The winger participated in the 2012 and 2016 European Championships, wearing the captain’s armband of the blue-yellows.
With Dnipro, the midfielder reached the Europa League final (2014/15), and with Sevilla, he triumphed in the 2015/16 LE. The 2017/18 season brought the Ukrainian silver medals in the Bundesliga. In the 2019/20 season, Konoplyanka became the champion of Ukraine as part of Shakhtar.
