Turkish club hold talks with Southampton over Paul Onuachu
Trabzonspor still expects a positive response from the Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchukhowever, is considering other options to strengthen the offensive line.
The Turkish club held talks with Southampton over 30-year-old forward Paul Onuachu. The Nigerian spent last season at Trabzonspor and wants to stay in Turkey. At the first stage of negotiations, Southampton demanded a sum too high for the Turks for the transfer of the footballer.
Earlier, Trabzonspor agreed with Brugge on Yaremchuk’s transfer for 8 million euros, and was ready to significantly increase the Ukrainian’s salary. However, Roman rejected the offer from the Turkish club. It was also reported that French Brest and Italian Bologna were interested in the Ukrainian.
Yaremchuk has a contract with Brugge until 2026. The Ukrainian spent the past season on loan at Valencia. Roman played 29 matches for the Spanish club, scoring four goals.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish Super League. The Claret and Blues will play in the Europa League qualifiers.
