Olympics 2024: Paris Games Set First Record

Olympic Games in France to be most attended in history

Before the start Summer Olympic Games in France just over a week left – official The opening ceremony of the Olympics will take place on July 26although the competition program starts a few days earlier. But already 15 days before the start of the main sporting event of the four-year period, the 2024 Olympics set the first record. The Paris Games will be the most attended in history.

This became known on July 11, when the president of the 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee announced that 8.6 million tickets had been sold for the competitions and official opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. This beat the result of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, when 8.3 million tickets were sold.

8.6 million is 86% of all tickets that went on sale. It is noted that over the past 40 years or 10 Olympics (foreign fans were not allowed to attend the 2020 Tokyo Games due to Covid restrictions), no one has managed to sell 100% of the tickets.

The Games in London (2012, 97% of tickets sold) and Beijing (2008, 96%) were closest to this figure. The worst figure was demonstrated in 2004 by the Games in Athens (71% of tickets sold).

The most expensive tickets at the 2024 Games are for men’s basketball, athletics and the official opening and closing ceremonies (from 24 to 980 euros).

It should be noted that 10,500 athletes will compete in the 2024 Olympics, the Games will be covered by 20,000 accredited journalists, and 45,000 volunteers will assist the organizers.
