The Ukrainian House in Paris will show an analogue of the homemade barbell with which track and field athlete Protsenko trained during the occupation

Stories of six Ukrainian athletes to be told before the Olympics

In the Ukrainian House Volia Space in Paris during Olympics 2024 will demonstrate an analogue of the homemade barbell with which the Ukrainian athlete trained Andrey Protsenko in the occupation of the Kherson region. This was reported by the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Sergey Bykov.

“We will give each of the guests, for example, leaders of countries, officials, major influencers, the opportunity to try what it’s like to train with a barbell made from a pipe and car wheels, so that they can understand for themselves what the Ukrainian athletes experienced,” Bykov said.

The Volia Space, the Ukrainian Olympic diplomatic mission, will open on July 27 in La Villette Park, next to 15 other European country houses and fan clubs. It will show a series of documentaries called “The will to win.” The stories of six Ukrainian athletes will be told, and directors, producers, and musicians will be invited, who “also show through their music what Ukraine is, what Ukraine is going through,” Bykov said.

Earlier, a march in memory of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russian aggressors during the full-scale invasion took place in Paris. Participants in the march wore T-shirts with the names of 488 Ukrainian athletes killed by Russian invaders.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in France from July 26 to August 11. The competition will feature 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.

In the early morning hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched a missile attack and aerial bombardment on most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia is now in its 876th day.
