The Dnipros claimed that Shakhtar acted ugly when appointing Jovicevich
Shakhtar director of football Dario Srna commented on the appointment Igor Jovicevich to the post of head coach of the Pitmen. According to the Croatian specialist, Jovičević’s contract with Dnipro ended on June 30th.
“Igor Jovicevich’s contract ended on June 30 – he did not leave according to FIFA rules. We started talking to him about whether he was ready to come to Shakhtar and become our coach. Of course, this is a step forward for him. He agreed.”
“The lawyers got in touch, did their job, and we signed it. Everything is very simple. It couldn’t be easier.”
Earlier, the honorary president of the SC Dnepr-1, Yuriy Bereza, called Igor Yovichevich a “traitor”.
In July, Shakhtar announced the appointment of Igor Jovicevich as the team’s head coach. The agreement with the Croatian specialist is for two years.
Shakhtar ended the season in first place and advanced to the Champions League group stage.
