Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv granted the prosecution’s motion and extended the detention of the former owner of Dnepr Igor Kolomoisky until September 2, 2024.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BES) served Kolomoisky with a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Article 190 (fraud) and Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means).
The investigation established that during 2013-2020, Igor Kolomoisky legalized more than half a billion hryvnia. The businessman transferred the money abroad, using the infrastructure of controlled banking institutions. The President’s Office clarifies that we are talking about a sum of over 570 million hryvnia. The court initially arrested Kolomoisky until October 31 inclusive with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of more than 509 million hryvnia, later the amount increased to 3.891 billion hryvnia.
Recall that in February 2023, a search was conducted in Igor Kolomoisky’s house. It was reported that the searches were related to the investigation of the fraud of Ukrtatnafta and Ukrnafta, namely the case of embezzlement of petroleum products worth 40 billion hryvnias and evasion of customs duties for large amounts.
Igor Kolomoisky has been closely associated with Ukrainian football and basketball for many years. He was the long-time owner of football club Dnipro, which was stripped of its professional status in 2018 due to multimillion-dollar debts.
