UPL clubs voted to exclude Dnipro-1 from competition

Two options are being considered for a replacement: to give Minai a place, or to hold a mini-tournament

Clubs Ukrainian Premier League The General Meeting granted the application Dnepra-1 about exclusion from the current season’s competitions.

Further, based on the results of the rating vote, the club representatives identified two options for replacing the Dnipro team in the Ukrainian championship. The first is to provide a place in the UPL to Minaj. The second is to hold a transition tournament with the participation of four teams (Minaj, Metalist 1925, Left Bank and Epicenter).

The first option was supported by the majority of clubs. The final decision on replacing a team in the UPL must be approved by the UAF Executive Committee in accordance with Article 5 of the Regulations.

Let us recall that in June, Dnipro commercial director Vyacheslav Fridman said that the club was in danger of closing the project. The functionary said that the current funds would not be enough for the entire season. However, according to him, Dnipro-1 is negotiating with potential new sponsors in order to continue its existence.

Honorary President Yuri Bereza said that he is ready to transfer all rights to the club to new investors. The functionary agrees to leave his post if the new owners save the team.

Earlier, Sport Arena reported that Dnipro-1 was unable to start the planned training camp. The club was able to gather too few players. There are not enough players to complete the starting lineup.

Dnipro-1, if it survives, will play in the Conference League qualification. In the second round of the selection, the opponent of Yuriy Maksimov’s team will be the Hungarian Puskas Academy. In the first round of the new Ukrainian championship, Dnipro-1 should play LNZ.
