Kroos speaks out after Euro controversy: “I held back…”

Former Germany international Toni Kroos has spoken out about his missed penalty for handballing Cucurella in the quarter-finals against Spain at the Euros.

Toni Krooswho defended the Germany at Euro 2024broke the silence regarding the controversy over the penalty not awarded in the quarterfinals, when the host team was eliminated. “I held back until today. I didn’t see anything, I wasn’t in a position to see that it was a relatively clear hand, so I wasn’t upset with the referee at the time. Afterwards I paid attention to the referee. He said he didn’t even need to look (at VAR).”said Kroos, who retired from the team at the continental tournament.
