Alexey Sych: As a child, I couldn’t imagine that I would compete in the Olympics

Blue and yellow are preparing for the start of the Olympics

National team midfielder Ukraine U-23 Alexey Sych commented on his debut participation in a football tournament Olympics 2024.

“It so happened that the club didn’t want to let me go at first, so I’m glad to see everyone. It’s nice to be in the national team.”

“We have a very good team, so my emotions are very positive. I haven’t yet understood what the Olympic Games are. It’s such a tournament that not everyone will be able to take part in it.”

“As a child, I couldn’t imagine that I would compete in the Olympics. Our participation in it is a good indicator that both I and the team are moving in the right direction.”

Before the 2024 Olympics, Ruslan Rotan’s team tied with the youth team of Egypt (1:1). The blue-yellows also ended with a productive draw with Paraguay (2:2).

The final roster of the Ukrainian team included defenders Maksym Taloverov, Arseniy Batagov, midfielder Maksym Khlan, as well as the leaders of Shakhtar Donetsk – Dmytro Kryskiv and Danylo Sikan.

Ukraine will take part in the Olympic football tournament for the first time in its history. Rotan’s team won a ticket to Paris last year, reaching the semi-finals of the European Youth Championship.

Tickets for the blue-yellow matches are already on sale. The blue-yellows will play their first match of the tournament against Iraq on July 24 in Lyon. The match starts at 20:00 Kyiv time.

On July 27, Ruslan Rotan’s team will play Morocco in Saint-Etienne (the match starts at 18:00), and on July 30, they will face Argentina in Lyon (18:00).
