Partizan began his acquaintance with Ukrainian football with Dynamo. In the 1976/1977 season, the Kiev and Belgrade clubs met in the 1/16 finals of the European Champions Cup. Dynamo, rightfully considered one of the strongest clubs at the time, easily dealt with Partizan: 3:0 in the first match in Kyiv and 2:0 in the return match in Belgrade. Moreover, all five goals in these matches were scored by five different players of the white-blues.
The paths of Dynamo and Partizan crossed for the second time in the 2017/2018 Europa League group. Shakhtar confidently crushed Partizan in the first match – 4:1, and allowed themselves to lose by a narrow margin in the second round match, which was already indecisive: Shakhtar secured first place in the group ahead of schedule, Partizan – last.
A year later, Shakhtar and Partizan were again in the same group, but this time in the Champions League. In addition to the Serbian and Ukrainian clubs, Arsenal and Braga were also in the quartet. The miners beat Partizan twice: 1:0 in Donetsk and 3:0 in Belgrade. Shakhtar, having scored 15 points, finished first, Partizan, having failed to score even one point, finished last.
