Panathinaikos Signs Former Shakhtar Winger Tete

Tete signed a 4-year contract with the Greek club

Panathinaikos announced the transfer of the winger Galatasaray Tete.

The Brazilian signed a four-year contract with the Greek club. Tete will play for Panathinaikos under number 10.

From 2019 to 2022, Tete played for Shakhtar. Together with the Miners, he became the champion of Ukraine twice, and also won the Cup and Super Cup of the country once.

Let us recall that Tete actually left Shakhtar immediately after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, taking advantage of the FIFA Annex for foreign footballers. At first, the Brazilian played on loan for Lyon and Leicester.

In July 2023, the winger terminated his contract with Shakhtar early and transferred to Galatasaray on a free transfer. Shakhtar then filed a complaint with FIFA, demanding that the transfer be cancelled and that both the player and the Turkish club be punished. In September, Turkish media reported that Galatasaray would pay Shakhtar a “small sum” for Tete’s transfer.

In the last Greek Championship draw, Panathinaikos finished fourth, earning a spot in the Conference League qualification, where they will play their first match against Botev from Bulgaria today.
