Roma is preparing a formal offer for the striker Girona Artem DovbykThe Romans intend to pay more than 30 million euros plus bonuses for the Ukrainian.
The Ukrainian’s agent is reported to have arrived in Rome on Thursday to meet with the Wolves’ management. It was previously reported that Roma coach Daniele De Rossi had a telephone conversation with Artem.
Atletico is also not giving up on trying to sign the Ukrainian. There is already an agreement between the Madrid team and Girona on the transfer amount of 40 million euros, but there is no agreement yet between Matrasnikov and Dovbyk himself. The negotiations have moved to a waiting mode until the issue of commissions and some bonuses is resolved.
Among the numerous contenders for Dovbyk, Tottenham and Juventus, as well as Milan, were previously named. In addition, the Ukrainian was on the shortlists of Arsenal and Napoli.
Dovbyk’s current contract with Girona runs until 2028. The player himself was named Girona’s best player in the 2023/24 season. During the voting, the Ukrainian beat defender Eric Garcia and winger Savio.
Dovbyk moved from Dnipro-1 to Girona in August last year and had a phenomenal season. Artem became the top scorer in Primera with 24 goals, also made 10 assists, and Girona sensationally finished in the top 3 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in history.
Roma have already signed two new players this off-season – AZ goalkeeper Matthew Ryan and Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Feu. There have also been reports of interest from the Romans in Villarreal striker Alexander Sørloth.
Daniele de Rossi’s team finished sixth in the last Serie A. Roma will face Cagliari in the first round of the new season.
