Australian women set new Olympic record
On Olympics 2024 took place in Paris men’s And Women’s relay races 4x100m freestyle.
The US team, consisting of Jack Alexy, Chris Giuliano, Hunter Armstrong and Caleb Dressel, triumphed in the men’s swim. It should be noted that 27-year-old Dressel became an 8-time Olympic champion. Australia won silver in the men’s relay. Bronze went to swimmers from Italy.
Interestingly, the world record for this distance has stood since 2008, when the American team showed a result of 3:08.24.
In the women’s relay, Australia won the race with Molly O’Callaghan, Shayna Jack, Emma McKeon and Meg Harris. The Australians set a new Olympic record of 3:28.92. The world record was set by Australian representatives in the summer of 2023 – 3:27.96.
The US team won silver, and the bronze medalists were the representatives of China.
Today in Paris, medals were also awarded in the 400m freestyle swimming. In the men’s event, the winner was German Lukas Mertens, while the best among the women was Australian Ariarne Titmuss.
