Russian midfielder Alexei Miranchuk will receive Designated Player status with a North American MLS club.Atlanta United “, reports the team’s press service.
As reported, after receiving an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and a P-1 visa, Miranchuk will become a Designated Player and he will appear in the application as a foreign footballer.
In the 2024 MLS season, 233 foreign player spots are available to clubs, and teams can trade them. Atlanta announced Monday that it has acquired Seattle’s slot.
Each MLS club can have a maximum of three Designated Players who are not subject to the league’s salary cap. In this case, the club is financially responsible for compensation above the limit for each player.

On Tuesday, Atlanta United announced the transfer of Miranchuk from Italian side Atalanta. The deal with the 28-year-old runs through the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend for another season.
