Beloded: Pain, disappointment and a pipe dream. Everything can collapse in a second

Ukrainian woman dropped out of competition at 1/8 final stage

Ukrainian judoka Daria Beloded commented on her performance at Olympics 2024. Daria thanked the fans for their support after the elimination in the 1/8 finals.

“Everything can fall apart in a second, everything. Pain, disappointment, an impossible dream. I am infinitely grateful to our people for their incredible support.”

“I am shocked by how many people supported me in difficult times. It is priceless when people are with you not only when you are on the podium, but also in moments of despair. You are incredible. You give me strength and faith in the future. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Darya finished her Olympic performances in the 1/8 finals. The Ukrainian competed in the 57 kilogram category.

Belodid confidently passed the first round, easily defeating Neru Tiebwa from Kiribati. In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian met Haruko Funakubo from Japan. Daria earned three “shido” and eventually lost.

Beloded is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a two-time world champion in the 48 kg category. In the 57 kg division, Darya won the 2024 European Championship in Zagreb.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competition will feature 329 sets of medals in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
