During his playing career, Samir Handanovic kept Inter’s goal for 11 years
Ex-goalkeeper Inter Samir Handanovic became the head coach of the club’s U-17 team.
This coaching experience will be the first for the Slovenian, who only ended his playing career at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Handanovic played for Inter from 2012 to 2023, becoming a true legend of the club. In total, he played 455 matches for the Nerazzurri, won the Scudetto with the team in the 2020/21 season, and also won the Cup and Super Cup of the country twice.
Handanovic also left a significant mark on the Slovenian national team, playing 81 matches for it. Together with the national team, the goalkeeper took part in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa – this is one of two World Cups in history (apart from the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea) for which the Slovenian team managed to qualify.
Inter’s main team will begin the season on August 17, when they will face Genoa away in the opening round of Serie A.
