The two-time absolute world champion could make his debut at the official level as a player.
Alexander Usik has been a fan of Dynamo since childhood, and therefore dreams of playing against the Kyiv club as a football player. The twice absolute champion himself said this in an interview with Bombardier.
But the Ukrainian boxer wants to score more against the main rival of the Kiev team – Donetsk Shakhtar. At the same time, Usik mentioned that he will debut in the UPL as a player only when he is ready for it.
“I will tell you the truth – I really want to play for Polesie, but I need to prepare that, as in boxing, as in other sports, professionalism and approach to work. I just can’t go out and play because, in my view , it will look unprofessional.
I can play football, but I still have to prepare. I want to play against Dynamo and Shakhtar. There is actually an interesting point here – I have supported Dynamo since childhood. My father really got me into football because he also supported Dynamo.
Dynamo for me is the number one team. But since now I am a Polesie player, then, of course, I now support this team and work with it. But I’ve been rooting for this team for a long time… Dynamo is my home team, but if I play them, I’ll try to win. It is the rivalry that makes athletes grow. Well, it goes without saying that I will give Shakhtar two cans,” said Usyk.
Let’s remember that Usyk has previously harshly criticized UEFA.
