For the first time in their history, the Romans have bought the top scorer of a top championship
Roma officially announced the transfer of the striker Artem Dovbyk from GironaThe Ukrainian received the number 11 jersey in his new team.
Special attention is paid to the fact that the Romans are acquiring the best scorer of the previous season in any of the top championships for the first time in their history. In addition, Dovbyk will become the first Ukrainian in the history of Roma.
The club does not disclose the terms of the deal. However, according to previously published information, the sum in question is 32-33 million euros and 5-6 million in bonus payments. Girona will also receive a certain percentage from the resale of the Ukrainian.
The footballer’s contract, as previously reported, will be valid until 2029. Artem’s annual salary will be three million euros, excluding bonuses.
Earlier this off-season, Roma signed AZ goalkeeper Matthew Ryan, Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Feu and Juventus winger Matias Soule.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian forward decided to move to Rome after a personal conversation with Wolves coach Daniele De Rossi. Atletico had previously been actively pursuing the player, but failed to agree on additional details of the transfer, in particular, the payment of commission.
Dovbyk moved from Dnipro-1 to Girona in August last year and had a phenomenal season. Artem became the top scorer in Primera with 24 goals, also made 10 assists, and Girona sensationally finished in the top 3 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in history.
Daniele de Rossi’s team finished sixth in the last Serie A. In the first round of the new season, Roma will face Cagliari.
