The experienced midfielder became the Mariners’ ninth newcomer this summer
Chernomorets officially announced the signing of the midfielder Artema Gabelka. The experienced performer played the previous three and a half seasons for Metalist 1925.
Last campaign, the centre-half played 27 matches (almost all of them with the captain’s armband), scoring one goal and making three assists.
29-year-old Gabelok is a product of Shakhtar’s youth system. During his career, he also played for Latvian Spartak, Vorskla and Armenian Pyunik.
In June, Chornomorets signed defender Bohdan Butko. Goalkeeper Artur Rudko also joined the Moryaki squad. Subsequently, the Odessa club formalized the transfer of striker Oleksiy Khoblenko. Then the Moryaki signed midfielder Bohdan Biloshevsky, winger Denys Yanakov, defenders Denys Lototsky, Roman Savchenko and Daniil Udod.
At the same time, in the off-season, Chornomorets lost its head coach Roman Grigorchuk, as well as many players: goalkeepers Daniil Varakuta and Oleh Bilyk, defenders Ilya Putrya, Luka Guchek, Ilya Ukhan and Vladislav Shapoval, midfielders Vladislav Ogirya, Yevhen Danilyuk, Nikita Sytnikov, Jack Ipalibo and Orest Kuzyk, wingers Maxim Bragaru, Artur Avagimyan, Ziguy Badibanga, Bohdan Boychuk, Daniil Holub, Fabricio Alvarenga and Andrey Shtogrin, forwards Samson Iyede and Ze Gomez.
Chornomorets finished 12th in the UPL last season. In the first round of the new Ukrainian championship, Oleksandr Babich’s team will play away against Kryvbas. The match will take place tomorrow, August 3, starting at 18:00.
