Ukrainian has an unfortunate collision with a teammate
Ukrainian goalkeeper Real Andrey Lunin was injured during one of the training sessions in the USA.
During the training session, Lunin collided with one of his partners. Doctors immediately ran onto the field, the severity of the Ukrainian’s injury has not been disclosed.
After Lunin’s successful performance last season, the media reported on offers to Andrey from Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG (the Parisians were allegedly ready to pay 18 million euros for the goalkeeper). Chelsea were considering paying 12 million euros for Lunin and bringing Kepa Arrizabalaga back to the Madrid club.
Representatives of Atletico, Betis, Juventus, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Newcastle also contacted Real. The latter two were reportedly ready to pay 25 million euros for the Ukrainian. Manchester City also considered the Ukrainian as an alternative to Ederson.
For Lunin, the question of the club next season is still open. Real expects Andrei to extend his contract until 2029.
Lunin played 31 matches for Real in all tournaments in the 2023/24 season. The goalkeeper conceded 32 goals and kept 12 clean sheets.
During the Blancos’ tour of the United States, Lunin played one half in the game against Milan (0:1). Carlo Ancelotti’s team is preparing for the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta (August 14) and will play Barcelona and Chelsea in friendly matches.
Real Madrid won the Spanish title last season and the Champions League. The Blancos will play Mallorca in the first round of the new Primera Division on August 18.
